Data Warehouse BI Coordinator

Focus: Leadership, facilitation, communication, organization, analysis, planning, subject matter expertise, deployment

Roles

For Decision Support projects and work requests, the Date Warehouse/Business Intelligence Coordinator facilitates and participates in the following functions:

  • Project management (planning, scheduling, risk management, task management, status reporting, etc.)
  • Technical coordination (environment management, security requirements, database updates, migration requests, etc.)
  • Deployment coordination

As projects have become more collaborative and flexible, DW/BI Coordinators help maintain focus on the process and end goals. They are keepers of the process, and advocates and protectors of the team. They help remove obstacles, facilitate communication, mediate discussions with the team, and update those external to the team. DW/BI Coordinators monitor progress and risks to the timeline and scope, and perform the administrative work needed by any project, including budgeting, scheduling, and measuring project success.

In addition to the project management function, DW/BI Coordinators are integral to the design and development of the solution. They provide subject matter expertise in the areas of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence.

Activities

  • Document project status with management, clients and extended team
  • Facilitate & document project meetings
  • Define and guide team in the project process including ensuring all project documentation is accurate and complete; update project methodology
  • Administer project, including budget and time tracking
  • Create and maintain project schedule; define phases/sprints
  • Record and maintain work breakdown structure
  • Ensure solution and security requirements are met
  • Create deployment plan and facilitate rollout tasks
  • Communicate environment needs with extended team
  • Facilitate migration of solutions in dev, test and production environments
